How to make aceto-carmine

1. Add 2.5 g of carmine (Carmine "Certistain^R", Merck) into 250 ml of 45% acetic acid in a 500 ml Erlenmeyer flask.


2. Assemble a cooling tower on the flask as shown below.
   


3. Keep boiling for 48 hours.
   


4. After cooling down, filtrate through a filter paper.
   


5. Store in a refrigerator. (Older is better)
